The Objective

Foodies is a meal-planning app created for a school project. The objective of the app is to create an app with different communities and have users share to each other their meal plans.

This meal plan app is a like Reddit for food and is community driven.

Users can join any community they see fit such as communities for dietary restrictions, communities for inspirations, communities for parents or students and even communities for liked/dislike foods.

Users can also create their own communities.

The Problem
& Solution

The reason why I chose to create a social app for meal planning is that we found other meal-planning apps that are all curated by the app itself. Because of that, it becomes harder for a user to find meals if they have a certain preference or certain dietary restrictions. I wanted to make an app where different users can engage with others to share their meal plans. So that is where the inspiration from Reddit came from. Since Reddit is community-driven, with over 2.8 million subreddits, or communities as of November 2023 I thought I would be a good base to start the groundwork of this app.

User Needs

Tired parents with kids, who work long days and do not have time to make food.
A person living alone that is poor and needs food for work but is on a tight budget.
A pet owner who sometimes feeds their pets with human food wants to know if their food is safe for animals
A teenager with allergies and who does not have much cooking experience wants to make food that they are able to eat.
A new parent wants to make their own baby food and wants the most nutritional value out of their food.
A person who wants to adapt to a pescatarian diet after using the same meal prepping application for a long time. They need the ability to swap their account preferences to meet the change in diet they are going for.
A baker who wants to make pastries but wants to make them look cute and needs inspiration

User Persona

A pet owner who sometimes feeds their pets human food wants to know if their food is safe for animals

Age: 35

Status: Single

Likes: Walking with her dogs, and Cooking

She is a dog owner who treats her dogs as her children. She likes to cook as well and tends to make extra. One of her dogs got sick from one of her meals, so she wants to avoid that from happening again. She wants to use insurance that is safe for animals.

Style Guide

I wanted this app to be a light blue color. I created two versons of the style guide for light and dark mode users.

Wireframe

This is the wireframe for this app. Since it was heavily inspired by Reddit, there will be many similarities with Reddit. There the design differs from, Reddit when clicking on a post, there will be additional text boxes for ingredients, step by step and the descriptions

Final Prototype

This is the final prototype. Due to time constrain, I was not able to full empliment this app.
